Expedition Learning - Calvary Faith Fish Fest 2025

On November 12, SLHS students traveled to Jefferson City to participate in Faith Fish Fest at Calvary Lutheran High School.

As one Calvary student leader said, “Faith Fest is Vacation Bible School for high schoolers.” Student leaders design, create, write, craft, and lead this day of team- and faith-building activities. This year’s chosen theme was Fishers of Men, which gave rise to Faith Fish Fest

All 110 Calvary students gathered in the gymnasium at 10:30 for an introduction to Peter and Andrew, two simple fishermen. Students were divided into preassigned teams, creatively using matching bobbers. Once in teams named after sea animals or plants, each team designed a banner and a fishing bob necklace, and tied on a matching-colored bandana. Following a build-your-own sandwich lunch, team leaders led their groups through five devotion stations, each with prayer, Scripture reading, skit, and games/activities. Each station focused on answering a central question based on scriptures pertinent to the theme. The day culminated with a final skit showing Peter and Andrew accepting Jesus’ invitation to “Follow Me,” a chapel service led by Pastor Rich Steensma of Faith Lutheran Church, snacks, a student video reflection, and prayers for the road.
